I am double-posting this in the Relationships and Survivors of Abuse forums.
I receive a newsletter from Patricia Evans, who specializes in helping the victims of verbal abuse, which she defines as "Verbal abuse attempts to limit or bring down your consciousness and thus your ability to act. It defines you in a negative way, threatens you, silences you, or even defines you as non-existent with the silent treatment. There are many ways that verbal abuse can adversely affect you. If someone tells you your motives, needs, thoughts and so forth, they are indulging in verbal abuse. They are defining you as something other than what you are. If you are frequently defined, over time you may begin to doubt yourself." I find this very helpful and wish I had found out about her earlier. In the latest newsletter, she recommends a site for men who genuinely want to end verbal abuse. MEVAC - Men Ending Verbal Abuse and Control - Home The website has an area for victims, too. |

A web search for WEVAC brings up some kind of university by that acronym and nothing else.

It stands for Women ending verbal abuse. I haven't had time to read the site, but I think I get the implication. |

I understood that part (George's intended de-acronymization). I treated the question literally, though. Is there? Yes, there is, but it is a completely different thing - some sort of a random university.
