My daughter just came home from University. Her language is foul and she is rude. I dont know how to stop her from swearing. She drops the F bomb constantly. Its not ok with me. How do I stop her?

Does she have a sense of humour? How about a swear-jar where she puts money in every time she swears? Its a good way to point out how many times she does it. Sorry though, its quite a downer hearing it so much. Should be reserved when its needed, like dropping a brick on a toe (yes I have!).

Other than that, just say 'not in my house, and to stay here you have to obey the rules'. Worked when I was a kid...
Thanks for this!

It's unfortunate that once they leave home, they come back talking like a drunken sailor. My kids weren't brought up like that, but yet they often came home spouting stuff like that too.

I just plain told both of them, that they BOTH knew they weren't brought up like that and I was NOT going to tolerate it in my house. So as long as they were under MY roof, eating the food here, and taking advantage of the LIGHTS, HEAT, WATER, ETC., they were NOT to use that kind of language. I expect respect. I don't expect anything more, but I will NOT accept anything less!

They honored my request, although once in awhile they slipped. I could handle that, as long as they apologized. LOL

Best of luck and keep us posted! Hugs, Lee

As someone in my 20s, I did start cussing more as an adult (mostly when I'm driving during rush hour, lol), but I would NEVER use those words in front of my parents. I agree with the other posters who say you should set that as a house rule and hopefully your daughter will respect your wishes.

Thanks, this is her first day at home while I am at work. Im going to make a list of house rules and lay down the law. I will leave it on the table and then tonight I will have a meeting to discuss these rules.
