I have been through racism when I was in middle school. Everywhere i went, many people would refer to us as ... I don't want to say it. It's a really derogatory term and I was just fed up with it. I often get these looks that I'm not supposed to be here or something though I am an American of whatever descent I am.

That really sucks! People are people, it doesn't matter what you look like. We all have red blood and real emotions.
Thanks for this!

one time i did not want to be my race. I would rather be white because whites are more beautiful than my race. They're attractive and they're tall. I'm tall, but not as tall as anyone else who's like a tower..
Thanks for this!

You won't be not your race, but when you grow up, you can make a choice to move to another area of the country where Asian people are not being discriminated against. That will make you feel much better.

I'm sorry you're going through that. I know you know this, but you're beautiful the way you are, and white people being shown as the ideal in advertising and magazines doesn't mean we are. I hope you have some people to surround yourself with who don't think like that and don't expose you to racism It's not being removed from it entirely, but at least that way you have people to turn to.

Unfortunately, people are a-holes. I have dealt with a lot of bigotry in my life, and probably will continue to as long as I live. It sucks but I don't let it shake me or define me. If it happens in the workplace, HR is my best friend. I reported my boss! Always stand up for yourself.

yeah this is how i feel sometimes. i feel like being white makes you stronger, muscular, and smarter. I believe that white-majority schools have a higher test score rate than we do and things like that. I also feel that the white man's ways are more honest than my native asian culture because one time some asian ripped me off of a necklace that I bought. He charged me 15 dollars and I found out that it was fake and that i was just mad. If the white man had sold it, he would not have deceived me.

Human Resources - departments within companies that are responsible, among of other things, for treating employees equally, without discrimination, such as racism.

Don't be fooled into thinking that a white man wouldn't rip you off. White people will rip you off just as soon as any other culture!!!

And the Asian people have very high test scores! Look at the Japanese people! Many of them are brilliant! They surpassed us in the electronics big time!

Don't sell your culture short. Be proud of who you are and where you come from!

Aww thank you! It's true they did.

A few weeks before our teacher's departure due to a layoff, she helped us review for history and most people had no idea where the states were until they actually started to test themselves. She's like,"It's embarrassing how Americans don't know their geography." Well, you got to admit that we don't have a geography class here in Socal.

what ticks me off is when people say things like oh this country wasn't that multicultural back then or we live in a melting pot. If someone just repeats that over and over, I'm just like,"What's he/she trying to drive at?"

We all come from the same place way back when. Perhaps you should carry a few cards with facts about the human race and pass them out as they say their nonsense.

Racism is just ignorant. Completely pointless and pretty disgusting in this day and age.

But you did make me smile a wry smile here. You're stereotyping people here! And yep, there will always be people who rip of others, it doesn't really matter what culture - there are always some bad eggs.

Try to be proud of you and who you are. Be the best person you can possibly be and hold your head up high! Try not to let those racist people get to you - they are already more stupid than you, simply for the reason they are being racist.

Hugs to you
