What do you do when someone denies anything is wrong when clearly everyone can see it? His issues remain a steady concern for me because I fear that he may be suicidal. I know he is depressed, but I think it's more than that.
He is ideations that are very unrealistic. Belief of after worlds, no spiritual belief, aliens, reincarnation, power of positive thinking, and talks about these things all of the time. He stays moody, depressed, often talks about his bad past with his dad, who took him out of school in the 6th grade to join a church that prophesized in different beliefs, such as a cult, using them for money, he talked about how children were molested, but denies being a victim. His ex girlfriend became pregnant and she left him while pregnant for another man. Not sure if any of this makes sense or not but wanted to add it in He is unsocial, and believes that people will only hurt him. He often stated that I was the only friend he had, and eventually pushed me away. He stated some pretty hurtful things yesterday. Said that from this point forward we could only be friends at a distance, and it was best if we didn't talk for a while. We were romantically involved in the beginning, and it all stopped when he moved spur of the moment. See him one day the next he's saying he needs to tell me bye spur of the moment! His reasons were because he wasn't making enough money here, but had no job the whole time he was there. He became angry, depressed, and moody while there and came back. He acted cold, distant, and had turned into someone I didn't know after 2 months. He wasn't excited to see me, nor even bothered to see me at all. We had established that we'd remain friends while he was gone. He often seemed suicidal and it scares me. I just want to be there for him, but he has pushed me away. Not sure what's going on. ![]() Thanks! |

There are therapists for victims of cult abuse. It is a very specific issue, and a garden variety therapist would be out of his or her depth.
I am sorry - it might not be possible to convince him to get help. But cult abuse can thoroughly destroy one, so of course you'd be worried. |
