I hope to make some changes here with my children. I hope to organize and set up a system of discipline and praise. I've made a naughty mat, and plan to use it today. I also have my potty chair out for my little boy, and I hope with stickers and Hershey kisses I can get him out of diapers. Please wish me luck.

Des, take this with a truckload of salt, because although I gave birth, someone else raised my son. So I don't have direct parenting experience. But the first thing I thought when I read this is that it might not be the best idea to use candy as a reward for potty training. Eventually (maybe) he might expect candy every time he goes potty ... probably not a habit you want to encourage! Parental Ambitions.

I dunno. Like I said, I know nothing. Just a thought. Good luck!

Good luck Des. I admire mothers and their patience. It's something I really don't think I could handle. I hope your little ones are kind with you and your nerves.

My little boy hasn't made it to the potty yet, the Kisses were my first time only award.....well that's the plan at least. I've been using little stickers for when he sits on there, even if he does nothing, so he knows that it's a good thing.

G'luck ((des))) I know most moms hate me when I say this, but potty training was a breeze for me with my daughter...she just went, that was it. She initiated it all, I had the potty out, she got curious, wanted to be just like mommy & BIG people, and started right off.

I have to say the second time she was trained (yes, second-she had a head injury, and had to be retrained on this and other things) was a bit harder.

Consistency, is the key word. G'luck with the training and the naughty mat. Just be consistent, and when the going gets tough remember that goal!!! You are molding good, healthy future adults here!!! YOU can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hugs, Lisa

Desirae, don't forget to have fun! Do you have a video or book to prepare for the potty training? That's supposed to help. How old is your son; I think there's an age thing with potty training as well as other growth steps. My husband and his first wife used M&M's for their three sons :-)
