Hello, I think my daughter has a mental disorder and I am not sure where to start. She says she doesn't but she also tells everyone that a transient at a coffee shop has told her she is pregnant with Jesus Christ. Now she is telling everyone she is. She has fits of uncontrolable laughter too and is speaking in tongues. SHe wasn't like this 6 months ago, and I am not sure where to see if I can get her evaluated... any help would be great!

uncontrollable laughter is a symptom of a sub-type of schizophrenia... let me look it up for you. I know what you mean - I saw such girls in psych hospitals.
Being pregnant with Christ is also schizophrenia, most likely (again, I surely saw people like that on the psych unit). Since she walks around telling others that she is pregnant with Jesus Christ, she will have her reputation damaged forever pretty soon. That is very sad - it is a very difficult situation, because she is not in a good position to listen to the voice of reason coming from you. What country are you in? |

Depending on my mood I'd either to go court and file papers for commitment or I'd give her biographical information and novelizations about the original Mary, Mother of God. The original Mary didn't act out to get attention, or otherwise behave abnormally. She just did the best she could to be a mother for her son and a wife for Joseph. She lived a normal life to the best of her ability.

That's why commitment is the first choice. The alternative just took longer to describe. Or maybe both.

agreed, of course, but without an immediate threat to self/others, commitment would be a tough case to win in the US...

PS Let us see: 1) where they are 2) if the daughter is an adult. If she is a teen, it might be easier.
