Does anyone else find falling in love very painful? It seems to come with all kinds of anxiety, sadness, and upset. Sometimes it makes me feel nauseous. It makes me scared I'll fail or that I'm putting too much of myself on the line. It's like trying to walk on ice or something. You sort of risk everything but it's kinda worth it. It hurts but I think I like falling in love

If you survive the initial euphoria stage and come out of it with a returned shared partnership, it deepens and becomes more a part of you. The comfort sets in like a favourite jacket or a routine that you know will always be reliable.
If, however, it is not returned or there is nothing left after the euphoria stage dies, it can be disappointing, but so long as we can brush ourselves off and keep faith that it can happen again, it can be a great experience worth every moment of the ride...both the happy and the sad moments. The memories makes us wiser and give a deeper sense of who we are and what we do or do not want in a relationship. |

Growing to love someone and fall into love with them, can be a vulnerable time.
I don't know about feeling physically ill, if you are secure with who you are, and feel secure with learning who they are, then feeling physically ill, isn't where I'd place falling in love with another. I'm also, on a different perspective about being 'in love', to me, it comes after reaching a point of knowing someone, well enough to know that there is a feeling of love. To me, 'in love' is a state of being, not so much euphoria where the fantasy of another can supersede reality. Ask yourself, is it love, or the idea of love, at this very moment. ![]() |

I'm not in love at the moment. I mean I am with my wife, but that's been forever. I was just sort of thinking back to past memories, being nostalgic and sentimental. Wondering if that's how it ever felt for anyone else.
I always feel somewhat euphoric about my wife. |

I know exactly what you mean. I've been dealing with it for years. Very painful indeed. I can relate to the nausea. It feels like a deep panic. I applaud you for continuing to put yourself out there.

I totally understand! After being in 2 dreadful relationships the thought of it all scares the hell out of me! Maybe I have trust issues....
