I found out yesterday that one of my best friends is no where near the person I thought she was. She has lied to me, manipulated me, and does things that I am not going to even post. She has had sever trama at home, worse then I had even imagined and she is so lost and confused it breaks my heart. I don't know what to do

That's kind-hearted of you to aim to continue to be her friend, and to want to help her. Does she have a therapist or a counsellor? Cannot change someone's past, but maybe the person can be helped in terms of ways of thinking about or understanding the past. Maybe you can let her know that you are there for her.

I agree with Rose3. Let her know that you are there for her. She is lucky to have a friend like you, but it is not right for her to manipulate or lie to you. You deserve to be treated better. Set boundaries by letting her know that you're there for her but you cannot tolerate being lied to. Friends don't do that to each other. Just my two cents.
