she keeps complaining how i have no boyfriend and how i'm her only child. she wants me to pass on the whatever.

It's not your fault you are an only child! And I don't recommend getting a boyfriend just to say you have one! I am sure this criticism is aggravating. Maybe you can say you are keeping your eyes open, hoping the right guy will come along at some point--or does she want grandchildren from just any guy?

My mom was very critical of me growing and still is. I decided to ground myself and set a boundary. In my head I understand that she wants something different for me than I do. You get to choose your expectations for your life.
