Hi, I'm having relationship issues. My boyfriend of a year and a half, who I love deeply, goes through depressive moments every so often and when he is in this 'grey' zone, he wants no contact with me (or anyone). I understand that he needs his space, but being completly cut out is incredibly painful for me. I've expressed this to him and he doesn't know how to get over his unhappiness with anything other than alone time. What should I do?

Is he willing to compromise, knowing how it hurts you, when he withdraws completely?
