Hi,
I'm 26 years old girl who is known as a shygirl from people around her. I'm not good in expressing myself but will try to. It's not nice to feel uneasy "uncomfortable" around others, stressful and confuse in somehow. Feel like your heart is raising, your mind is so busy with words "mixed thoughts" and you are speechless. It's rarely when I go out but if I did go out don't be alone "should have someone with me just to company me even if we didn't talk to each other" but when I be at home or work, I'm often be by myself, don't know why. |

you have to break out of your comfort zone in order to meet new people, everyone is nervous a lil bit meeting someone new, even people with lots of friends and experience. whenever we do something that we are not used to or "new" at..it is very uncomfortable at first..then once we get used to it..it becomes a lot easier. yrs ago i used to do door to door sales & one of the things this taught me was how to deal with rejection..the customer's weren't rejecting me personally when they didn't buy something..they were rejecting the product..once i understood that it became easy to talk to total strangers. another thing i learned( because i ran sales offices as well) was the art of public speaking...imagine talking to a room full of people with all eyes on YOU!!! at first i was terrified at the thought..after a while it became easy, then i grew to love it and i became more comfortable. hope this helps..you want to expand your comfort zone!!

You are not alone with these feelings! Trying2survive has some great tips above.
You can take baby steps to reduce this anxiety. Try going out on your own when you know you won't run into people you have to talk to... then work your way up to talking to cashiers in stores. I've found that I can desensitize myself with these mini actions. It takes time, but it's great to move forward. |
