I know you can't change a person. And I know no one is completely honest all the time...

But I catch my fiance lying to me ALL the time. I've been with him for 9 years! And the lies are usually about stupid things. But I'm concerned: if he lies about the little things, what's to stop him from lying about bigger things?

I'm practicing in therapy how to meet my own needs and how to deal with experiencing emotions other than depression and anger, but I feel this lying is beyond normal. I'm stuck with my fiance for now... If I leave, I wind up in a homeless shelter.

So my question is: has anyone else dealt with excessive lying? How did you cope with it? Is there any hope or happy endings?

I've been lied to a lot in my life.
I'm at a point in my life where I basically cut off most everybody. So no, the liars did not stay in my life.

Partners who lied to me also caused the relationship to end because of it.

The partner I have now has also lied to me, about a big issue.
He's the one I hope will be different from all of the others.

But I think most everybody in this forum would say it won't be...

It never ends well with liars...... unless you want to be miserable and always looking over your shoulder for the rest of your life........

It's truly a horrible feeling.............

Oh My Goodness Scarlet, yes I have had to deal with people that lie about everything and anything, no reason behind it! Fortunately I have never been engaged to a person like that.
I understand you feeling stuck right now since you do not want to be homeless. The funny thing is that don't worry about him lying about the big things, because in my experience you probably can not ever believe anything he says!!!!
