I just wanted to say "thank you" to all on this site. I sometimes check other other, more general forums, on the internet and there is one in particular that I will never again look at. I'm not sure if I can say what it is, but it is a major site for hot gossip, articles, and forums on relationships and many other issues.
I realize that PsychCentral is by nature going to attract those who are more sensative to certain issues and have a lot more of an open mind. But I can not believe the things that I just read on this site and I am so appalled that I just wanted to direct people here!!! A 20 year old girl was writing in because she was so upset that she is pregnant and her boyfriend just left her and she can't find him and doesn't know what to do and genuinely needed advice. People's responses where along the lines of - well, that's why you should get married before considering having a family, why did you "open your legs" to a jerk like that in the first place, and you might as well just give the baby up for adoption because you and it will have a miserable life. It made me want to cry for this poor woman who was being treated like this, and all I could think was- thank God for the wonderful people and support at this lovely site. |

Wow, yeah that definetly doesn't sound supportive. The nature of PC is to offer support.....so it is a diffrent kind of community. I'm so happy you're happy here!!!!!!!!

Glad you noticed and glad you found PC! That kind of non support does trickle in here from time to time, but everyone recognizes it for the poison it is, and the mods help to quench it... sometimes the person just doesn't fit in, but usually it's just that they never experienced support and didn't know how to give it either. TC!
