I've been separated from my husband for five years. Even though I kept asking for a divorce when we were in contact, he kept dragging his feet. That was four years ago. No contact since then. I've been in a relationship with someone else for two years, and I really, REALLY want to get some closure. Problem is, I can't find him.
I've tried Googling him, background checks, mailing letters to his last known address, contacting his family members (they don't respond), and messaging him on Facebook (when I did that he blocked me). Not sure what to do now, and since I'm on welfare there's not a lot I can afford to do. Does anyone have suggestions on how to find a missing husband? I hate the fact that I'm still married to that jerk! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You might be able to divorce, even if he cannot be tracked down. Check with your state's Bar Association. Especially, since you haven't lived together, all these years.

I know there's a way to do divorce by publication, but you have to post the divorce intent in the legal section of the newspaper for several weeks. I have a feeling that would be pretty pricey. :-(

I believe you can simply post it in the courthouse as an alternative. In the paper it's once a week for three weeks.
Your state may be different. |

Why don't you find out the actual cost? the courthouse will probably give you a list of local publications and you will then call each of them to compare their rates.

Thank you all! I will call the courthouse as soon as this latest bout of depression eases up a little.

Usually after 5 years you can divorce fairly easily without having to contact the other person. I'm not sure if it's the same where you are but its worth finding out
