Is it weird to send emails or messages to acquaintances? I met someone at a conference last summer. We had coffee once afterwards. I'm taking a class in her neighborhood, so I thought of her last week - is it weird to send her a note?
I feel like I run into this a lot. I like having a wide pool of acquaintances. I don't expect anything of them. I just wonder if I put people off by keeping in touch. Most people are not sending me random emails looking to catch up. |

No its not in the least bit weird, its how friendships are born.
So while friendship may not be your goal, the act of reaching out is not weird at all.

Thanks! Someone said something in passing recently that made me wonder if this kind of contact was unwelcome - and I think it would be, if I was constantly reaching out to people who never responded. This is more of a once every 6/12 months thing.
