Hey everyone, new to this group and thought I'd make a post asking for any advice on communication and coping in my difficult to structure relationship. I am an 18 year old girl with obsessive compulsive personality disorder. I have recently started dating a young man who has bipolar II. We are really great at helping each other work through things but we have hit a few road bumps. The biggest concern is that I get too hung up on what he says when he's up vs down. I have a heavy need for consistency and that is something I just will not get from him. I was wondering if anyone had any good tools for communication or coping with the inconsistency and unstructured progression of a relationship with someone who is bi poplar. Please and thank you this is a great website.

I am an Obsessive Compulsive Personality with Bipolar 2, so I'm sorry, but atm I'm just here laughing at the absurdity of my reality, because you've highlighted the war within me so eloquently. thank you for that

Good luck, I hope someone responds who actually has something valuable to say. In the mean time I'll attempt to repost once I get over myself

I don't have any tools, but I think your approach of figuring out ways to cope with inconsistency is a very good one. Just stopping to remember that I am not going to get X from Y helps me sometimes. It's not personal, it's just a fact of life.
