I've tried to end it once, and had a hospital stay on a separate occasion but with my bipolar I am much more aware person when dealing with other people.
I needed 5 minutes of my mother's time yesterday because what I had to say was important, she said she had to go pick up someone from an appointment and she had another appointment and was walking fast. I stopped her and told her, NO(politely), this is important, I am important, what I have to say is important. There is no need to be in a rush, that's how car accidents happen. The person waiting has waited after an appointment before, he isn't going to drop dead if he isn't picked up 3 minutes earlier, he has a smartphone, magazines, etc. Your doctor isn't going to see you when you check in on time you'll have to wait like 30 minutes. Why don't you appreciate or take seriously these 5 minutes of what I have to say without laughing and constantly saying "I have to go". I'm your son, your only son, you were possibly going to die a few months ago and my request for 5 minutes of conversation mean nothing and are a game.

I'm sorry you weren't given the time and attention you needed. Many of us are guilty of rushing about often out of habit.
Did she respond to your polite request? |
