I had a friend I met via another forum. We met up IRL a few times but have since stopped talking altogether. We are friends on Facebook but it's been at least two years since I last spoke to her. I know she has had struggles with feelings of self worth and depression, and decided to not burden her with all my problems regarding my mental health issues. I just remember enjoying talking and hanging out with her and want to do so again.
The thing is, I don't know how she would feel about resuming the friendship after not communicating for so long. I fear she may be mad with me for some reason. I should also add that she was my only friend IRL and that now that we stopped communicating, I haven't made any new ones. In other words, I am now without friends to hang out with IRL. Should I send her a message on Facebook asking how she's been or would I just be setting myself up for rejection and dissapointment?

Sure why not.. Maybe she is thinking the exact same thing as you.. If she waiting nothing to do with you I imagine she would have blocked you on Facebook.
No risk, no gain

Good Luck! Good friends withstand the test of time. It's so very easy to get caught up in the busyness of life. Hope it goes well, reuniting
