This is pretty heavy, and I will probably have to read it a few times but felt it was important to post somewhere. |

Great article. Keep in mind, this can apply to narcissist friends to. I realized I had one of those and am slowing having to distance myself from her. She was like a life-sucking emotional vampire.

Dear Open Eyes,
Thank you for posting this. It was a tearful read indeed and I recognized my life partner & self. I left. Moved out but the relationship remains. Over time and with therapy it is an unique relationship... 2 traumatic souls, yes it is getting better but there is always a chance that injured child can return and have a tantrum. I cant fix him, nor can he save me... There is no doubt we love one another. He has made huge improvements & I've learned to be non reactive when I recognize that injured child peaking out. My advice for other people would be to leave this kind of relationship! I have my own issues that I am working on and will be a work in progress forever. Thanks, I hope your life is getting better, YOU DESERVE IT.

Well, it's important to remember that many of these individuals genuinely don't realize how toxic they are. This article makes it sound all intentional when it's not always as intentional as this article is written. Sometimes what it comes from is how an individual developed into this kind of person as a way to self protect.
