I am deeply grieving the (hypo/manic) life I once had; the experiences and adventures. When I told my boyfriend I was melancholy and desperate to regain some sense of that life and lifestyle he took it to mean I am disatisfied with our relationship.

Is there a way to explain to him what precisely you meant? IOW can you elaborate on what you meant by how you felt? I hope so. I wish you well Hugggzzz

Ugh....so sorry to read this. That's a huge leap from stating melancholy and missing your prior self, as I interpret what you are saying.

Is he usually hypersensitive to any mood you have?

Actually it came to him as a shock. When I expressed my hope that I was doing something else I think he took that to mean I wished I was completely doing something else and living another life entirely. I admit I in turn was uncomfortable with his sensitive reaction. Yes, I have an empty hole in my life but it is no indication of something lacking in the relationship. On the contrary it is his presense and love and support that has kept me from falling in.
