Just wondering if you have thought about this often seen gesture used by politicians? When for example Obama is with some other leaders and they proceed to walk to a different location, he will put his hand on the back of the other person as if to guide them but really he's saying I'm superior here. They/we all do are capable of it. It's a condescending gesture disguised as a kindness or helpfulness. It's body language seen in any walk of life. I remember a high school friend years ago doing that and I resented it for what he was saying, a subtle put down. He was always socially prominent in school and had become a local business person. I'm not obsessed or upset but just sayin...

Do you think he actually touches other people? Like certainly not the queen of england. I thought it was more of an "after you" gesture without actual touching. Unless its someone youre familiar with. Otherwise i would think that would be a breach in protocol. Cant imagine somebody touching hillary. Not even bill!
Thanks for this!

Yeah I'm leaning more towards the "after you" approach, as in a sign of politeness when people hold the door open for you to go through first.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I find it interesting but tactical.
Thanks for this!
