Bumped into a woman who was my friend She was on her way to a bipolar support group. I previously decided to end the friendship. Reason was she would be really thoughtful and then sometime later she'd turn on me. This would be anywhere from a couple months to a few weeks. This was her pattern with everyone who was ever her friend so it wasn't that she targeted me out. I don't mean to imply everyone with bipolar is like her.
When she turned she was really mean spirited. She said things that were downright cruel. It was as if she looked for what someone was most sensitive to and used that to really hurt that person. That includes yours truly.
So no idea why I did this. I said hello to her. I called her name.
She told me she was on a regimen of meds that finally stabilized her. Mentioned . First for her sake and everyone else's she is stable. Realize my query may be unanswerable. Did I give enough information?

I have no experience with bi-polar, so take what I say with that in mind. Which is short and to the point, so excuse that.

Since I "got" depressed (have yet to find a good verb..) I give people the benefit of the doubt. I see through different eyes, now.

So, one more chance maybe?

I have bipolar disorder and I don't act like that - but I have been stabilized for an extended period. Some people with bipolar can act rude, moody, etc if they are in a mood episode. Some have their tempers flare up. This is all temporary if a person is following a treatment plan.

Episodes last for extended periods, typically. Weeks, months. If she's flipping out on you one day and totally normal shortly thereafter then that doesn't sound bipolar-related.

Your friend certainly has established quite a pattern. Maybe give her one more chance like the above poster suggested. But that's it. She may just be a person that isn't a good friend, period. She may be a mean-spirited person that uses her illness as an excuse for bad behavior.

Good luck!
Thanks for this!

I just know she said she was bipolar. I can't go by anything more than that. I did write I didn't mean to imply everyone whose bp is like her. Everybody is an individual. Yes she may be mean spirited. Or it could be her meds could help her to be stable. Sure hope so for her sake.
