If this belongs in a DID forum, please feel free to move it, with my apologies.

I have an online friend that I correspond with via email. I have never met this person IRL. We both volunteer as moderators on another website, that's how I know this person.

This person has been undergoing EMDR therapy for childhood trauma and resultant DID. The last several months, I have noticed that this person is apparently 'mirroring' both my spouse's recent severe illness, and one of my chronic illnesses. Due to my own personal struggles, I have been more distant and emailed less frequently the last several months, albeit unintentionally.

Is this mirroring something I need to be worried about? For myself, or as in indicator for them?

I assume they must be really physically sick, as they have professed to missing several sessions of their EMDR therapy recently due to illness. The EMDR therapy has been extremely painful for them lately - I cannot express how much pain and stress they were in before they had to stop EMDR due to illness. Additionally, they will soon be facing 'integration' of their various personalities.

I am concerned about what this 'mirroring' might indicate, both for myself and for them. Can anyone offer me any advice, or experience?

Thank you.
