I was wondering if anyone has any experience with online social platforms like POF & OkCupid?

In the beginning, it seemed like one of the greatest things since the invention of the internet. However, as time went on I became more & more aware of its numerous flaws.

Been there , done that. I wouldn't totally diss them but if you join don't expect too much. Don't take anything anyone says in profiles at face value and talking of faces don't trust photos. Arrange to meet after a few emails and a phone call. Go for a coffee and take it from there.

Meh. I found that most people I interacted with actually had no intention of ever moving beyond the cyber realm. I'll log back in weeks later and see the same people online, and then begin to wonder to myself "am I just wasting time?"

Yep, lots of timewasters on dating sites. Yet another way the internet has found to p#SS people off.
Thanks for this!

I agree that the profiles can be a bit off. I was surprised so many men lied about their age.lol

I warn against free sites. If you pay you are more likely have a goal to meet someone and get out of there

I met my x wife online, and she met her affair online. I think the internet dating scene has steadily devolved over the years. I also think internet dating has changed the overall culture of single people who date. It seems like a lot of people view it as a hobby or sport, and often treat real life people worse as a result.
Thanks for this!

I always hear stories like this, but I have a difficult time believing them based on my experience (1 year of cyber-flirting, no relationship).

Don't spend time flirting. If people are interested they would meet you pretty quickly after initial interaction. If they don't meet soon then move on

Might be wrong people. Trying different sites. Try the one you need to pay for

D'aw. My story is true. I promise.

Do you have a lot to offer?

I have thought about using a dating site. But I think that it would be hard to truly connect with someone that you're watching on a video. Then having to truly find a way to connect in person.
