My ex and I have decided to try a trial separation. He'll be at his dad's working on his issues and self-improvement, while I will do the same at home. Just curious if anyone else has done this in a relationship, and did you find it helpful in the long run?

What do you mean by trial separation? Like you will be committed to each others while not really committed to a relationship?
