I live next door to my mom. She is a widow I took care of her and house the last 11 yrs until I became Ill. Cooper my dog is a regular visitor at her house and loves Cooper. I was outside the windows were open I heard her tell Cooper he can come over anytime to get a break from me. This is one reason Ive had too detach from my family.

That is an odd thing to say. But it may have just bee careless words on her behalf and not meant in the manner in which you took it

I agree with Crazy Hitch.
Coming from a mixed-feelings family myself, I can understand this. Speaking of personal weakness though, it sounds like it was your mom's way of saying "I need attention".
Perhaps her hateful feelings lingered in that sentence when she said "break from her", but her hatred is her problem and not yours.

What do you think your mom was referencing? Why would she say such a mean thing...is it possible she was making a bad joke?
