A friend of mine in real life is biologically related to his step-siblings and I'll tell you how that's possible.
His dead father's sister was married to a man and they had children, but divorced. This man married another woman and they divorced, so this man married my friend's widowed mother and thus his cousins are also his step-siblings. Is your family tree complicated or do you know anyone with a complicated family tree? Explain. |

Yes.
My late sister Laenie used tell people, "We do not have a Family Tree .....We have a Hedgerow!!" lol Truer words were never spoken. lol And ~sigh~ For one thing --- I am an adopted child. I also know my bio-sibs & bio-mom.. We were also a foster family for many years. A not-very-sensitive person once tried to earnestly tell me who my "REAL" ![]() Best, Chyia |

Yes. Very.
Both of my parents came from large families so I have many Aunts, Uncles, & Cousins. Both of those families PLUS one more large family from the area intermarried a total of 9 times, some ending in divorce and most resulting in some complicated family relationships. I have several double cousins and my husband was very confused during family gatherings for a very long time. The best one though is about my uncle. He married a woman and they had a child, then they divorced and she married his brother, a union that resulted in more children. We like to point out that her brothers are also her cousins. |
