I found the list of "50 Signs of a Toxic Relationship" on Psych Central and I had a few minutes so I went through it with my wife in mind. She managed to get 38.33 out of 50, so fairly poisonous there. Today is Silent Treatment Day (day 2). I admit I like the silence. We don't argue. I guess she thinks she's punishing me and it used to bug me--a lot-- but now I don't care. It's just one day closer to me and younger daughter being able to escape.

It concerns me (although it's absolutely none of my business and you can say so) when you say you and your younger daughter are going to escape. What about your older daughter? Doesn't she need to be freed from this toxic person as well? I'm still rooting for you.

"It's complicated"-- and yes it would probably be better for older daughter to leave but she has to make that choice and right now she's doing what her Mom tells her to do. A friend of mine says "she's in survival mode--of course she's going to do what her Mom tells her to do." She has her mom's volcanic anger. It makes me very very sad.

I'm sorry you and your daughter are going through this and that your older daughter is not on board. I wish you well in getting away from your wife.
