Hey Everybody,
I am trying to figure out how to deal with my very inconsiderate roommates. No, moving out is not an option. I have a signed lease. I have known these people for over 15 years, on and off, but just became room mates with them the last 7 months. the two room mates are sisters, they are the most messy, dirty people that I know, I clean up the kitchen, they make food and leave their mess all over the counter, make sandwiches, drop bread all over the floor leave it... one roommate will get iced tea and spill it on the counter or kitchen floor, and leave it or wipe it up off the floor with her sock and it is sticky and leave it...she spills sugar all over the counter when she puts it in her iced tea... and leaves it..I tell her about it and she says she didn't do it... she doesn't even acknowledge she made the mess...so I clean it up... and shell make her messes all over again... I go to do my laundry, and there will be wet laundry that has been in the washer for days and dry laundry in the dryer..I tell my room mate she needs to get her laundry out of the dryer, she takes it out and lays it on top of the washer...and leaves it. Seriously!?!?! I basically do all the cleaning, and cooking, I feel like I am Cinderella and they are the ugly step sisters...I clean up after them and cook for them...I just feel like if I don't I know what the apartment will be like and I hate to think the conditions Id have to live in... I know what it looked like when I first moved in...on the verge of hoarders. But I came in and cleaned it all up. We kinda have an unusual roommate situation, because we live in a 2 bedroom apt. they share a bedroom, since they are sisters, and I rent the other bedroom and it has its own bathroom... But they dont respect the room mate situation, they want me to go everywhere they go, do everthing they do. eat when they eat, what they eat... go to their family functions, and get offended if I dont want to go...They get offended if I want to just stay in my room and keep to myself and mind my own business...They start in with why dont I like them or want to spend time with them and this and that... I just feel like someone is about to end up bald here, and it's no me...lol....I am about at my wits end here with them. UUUUUGH! ![]() |

Honestly, I would hang in there until the lease is up and then leave as soon as possible and live somewhere by myself. I would also not clean up after them (just my own messes and my bedroom) and they should soon notice how much of a mess they leave. How long until the lease is over?

I'm sorry you're having such a tough time with your roommates. I don't think there is a whole lot you can do about their messiness unless you have a little pow wow and agree to some rules or compromise. Being realistic though, I live with someone who is very messy and would be a hoarder if I didn't keep on top of it. I can talk until I'm blue in the face but she's still messy.
As far as them expecting you to be with them all the time...it's nice that they like you so much but you need to set some healthy boundaries and stick to them politely but firmly. Good luck and best wishes. ![]() |

I think that you need to stop cooking dinner for them. They are taking your generosity too far!
