It is bad to be needy in relationships. But what if someone is needy, what if anything can be done about it

They could go to a therapist and dig down to the root of their neediness in order to process and alleviate it.

How can they alleviate it if it is a feeling and cant be talked away. Therapy suggests you can feel different. You can only realise you should feel different but that does not alter the feeling

I'd say it would have to do with self esteem. If someone has a sense of self worth and a bit of independence, they wouldn't have to be so clingy on a partner for reassurance.
