I may have touched on this before...

I just want to say thank you to those that have wished to add me as a friend and apologise for my failure to reciprocate.

I just don't do social media. Participating in an exchange of ideas on a forum is one thing but I tend to refrain from socializing online. It is not that I am not allowed to I just avoid doing so. I have found myself peek in on the chat a few times and realized it's just not for me anyway. As for the social networking that I do participate in I do so with those I actually know in real life. Call me weird but that is how it is.

So, I am immensely grateful when requests for friendship do come my way. And, I feel an intense sense of letting someone down when I reject them (I can't stand the word reject). Please know that it is not because I dislike you. i apologise if you feel hurt as ill feelings are far from my intent.

I use the friend requests here mainly if I want to send a message its one click or find there last posting etc its easier to do that scroll around looking.

As for Facebook? I am very picky who I accept and who I dont lol

This forum hardly is considered social media, considering that it is anonymous and Facebook requires you to use your real name. Because of these reasons, I never placed much thought into the "friend" system here. After all, you are hardly required to commit to anybody here and as long as you don't give a lot of information out about yourself, then it can be made completely separate from your personal life.

I don't understand why people might feel uncomfortable with the "friend" system here because of these reasons, but I guess other people may be different.

P.S For what it's worth, I have met a few very amazing people here. One has my phone number, one my Skype, and a couple others have my online handle for my online gaming accounts. It is entirely my choice to give this information out and who I give it out to and just because somebody is my "friend" on here doesn't mean that I'm required to give them any contact info. It is my choice alone and as long as I'm not forced to give my real information out to people that I have "friended" than I see no reason why I shouldn't accept somebody's friend request if they choose to send one.

It doesn't hurt me to accept a friend request here, in fact I'm very grateful.
It might hurt someone if I were to decline one, however.
