I belong to a different forum and have run across something there that I don't understand. This kind of thing happens there, and I'm hoping someone can explain to me what's going on.

Member 1 asked a question. Members 2 and 3 gave answers. But 3's answer talked about being cheaper than 2's answer without explaining the difference. I then posted, explaining the difference. Nothing more. Member 4 then posted asking me to explain my explanation. And Member 2, who it seemed to me had been made to look extravagant for no reason by Member 3, thanked Member 4.

So 2 and 4 seem annoyed at me, but I'm not sure why.

I just thought it was a good idea to let 1 know what is gotten with the extra money. Nothing more. It is up to 1, or any lurking, to decide if the extra is worth the expense.

I almost didn't check, myself, to learn the difference. So I thought others might not check.

Can anyone explain what I did that's so annoying?

Hi latetolearn,

My honest opinion is you're dealing with online stuff and you should try not let it get to you, or over think it.

At the end of the day it's just a text that's responding to you and people can say what they like online, which sometimes their opinion / input isn't justified.

Hopefully you find more support here.

sounds like you're taking some consumer based forum way too seriously. it's just a forum and just people talking. Who cares even if someone is upset at you there? doesn't sound like a close knit circle of friends so it shouldn't matter. people who are on forums asking questions should always know better than to take another's word without question and should always research on their own, and it's not up to you to make sure the explanation is there. if the person asking the question doesn't ask for elaboration, then why worry about whether they understood or not?

But in summary don't worry about it.

You didn't do anything wrong. You were contributing to a thread. Unfortunately not everybody is on the same page. I'm sorry if you thought they were rude. That's not usual here. Sending big hugs.
