Don't know if this is the right place or not..But I have no where else to turn to. I have a long distance boyfriend [[ no flaming please!]] and he's going through an extremely rough time. He I believe is schizophrenic and has split personalities... Or did. He believes that his; Mortecai has died off and he's a mess. I've never seen him like this before.. The guy has totally pulled away from reality, become a nervous wreck, developed ocd like habits, and has in a way fallen apart. It KILLS me to see him like this and even though I understand completely it's just breaking my heart to see the guy I love like this.... And its putting a strain on our relationship as we haven't talked for a week and *sigh*
I just... I don't know how to help him..especially me being 16 hours/2 states away and having no way to get to him.. =/ |

I would urge him to see a therapist or some mental health professional. There is not much you can do apart from that. I would also take care of yourself in this time.

Yes, if you feel he is in danger, you should urge him to see a mental health professional. If he is schizophrenic, as you say, this may prove to be a difficult task. Are you sure about schizophrenia? Is it perhaps dissociative identity disorder? Perhaps you should read on the suspected disorder(s), and try your best to narrow down the possibilities, so you have a better understanding on things. You can then see how you should approach the situation. Regardless, he should see a professional.

Take a look at the Schizophrenia & Psychosis forum, especially at the posts of spiritual_emergency. He (she?) gives quite a few links, some of which I think are very valuable.
