I do get kinda worried what the other person will think when I reply. I'm getting better at it. I feel like my advice won't be helpful and I want to be useful. I have been in similar situations to some people and I really wish they know that they're not alone. I try my best to help people. I may say the wrong thing or I may moan about myself and sometimes that isn't helpful. I can mostly relate to people with depression, anxiety, relationship issues and SI. What has your experiences at PC been like? How did you get better at replying to other people's threads?

Try to be careful when you write, but in the end I'd say just go with it - if you involuntarily offend someone, you can always say you're sorry later, and clarify. You may offend a couple of people sometime (it's probably inevitable) but I don't think that has to stop you from writing here. Just try to be respectful and things will be ok. You can read other people's posts to learn better. I think you're doing great

I have read a few of your posts and find them supportive and encouraging, of course none of us knows how what we write will be perceived by the OP so it is always a step into the unknown much like posting a thread is.

I think if we try to 'step into those shoes' of the OP then that is a good starting point, personally if I find myself getting irritated or losing patience (only happened a couple of times in a few years) then I stop replying. It often takes great courage to post personal things on here, and I try to respect that.

Personally I appreciate all the replies I've ever had, although some have been more salient than others just knowing someone cared enough to reply is supportive and encouraging in itself.
Thanks for this!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
