How does moving out of the house work?
I've asked for a consultation with a lawyer, not sure how soon I'll get in but hopefully they'll call me Monday so that I can make an appointment to get a separation agreement drawn up. Looks like it is going to cost around $2,000. The only shared property is the house. There are 3 shared bank accounts that we will split 50/50 so we can do that part ourselves (I think he'll be as honest as me). In NC, you have to physically separate so I'll have to move, and keep paying my half of the mortgage and escrow, in addition to rent and utilities at my new place, I guess. I am going to move about 25 miles away (closer to work). I'm thinking it will take me a couple of weeks to move...I don't really want to be around him that long after I present him with the paperwork, it will be awkward...but is that what everyone does? Also, I'll have to get a second job working on the weekends. Any advice for this? I'm a professional and make decent money for this area, but paying a mortgage and nearly $1000 rent, and putting my daughter, who is a single mom, through school, I'm afraid I'm going to go bankrupt. |

Sorry Benzenering, Maybe dad could help put daughter through school, or if she is a mom herself, can she help you in some way. Possibly renting a room from someone for just a little while would be a lot less expensive for now!
So sorry you are going through this seperation hope things go well for you
