Hi, not sure if I am in the right place, if not can someone please let me know, thanks. I was d diagnosed with borderline personality disorder many years ago. I am so obsessed with my friend that I literally spend every waking moment thinking about her. I even moved 7 months ago because it became a very 'toxic ' relationship. I thought it would help but it only made it worse as now that I am not living there I am not only obessed with thoughts of her but also have become very emotional with sadness and tears. Just to note, we were never in a relationship other then friends for 20+ years (she has a partner). I have been in counseling for quite a while now, but I think maybe someone with similar struggles would understand better. I just don't get it. Thanks.

Time away her should eventually help you think of her less. But I think the best way to break a habit is to substitute a new habit. Can you pour you energy into a job, workout goals, volunteer, focus on a new friend or spend more time with a family member you love? You are having a hard time now but hopefully the pain will fade. I have heard people who are borderline have more attachment issues but I would like to think we can all overcome things like this. ![]() |

Is there any way you can keep yourself super busy so you are distracted and have less time to think about her? Join a club, study something part time etc
