For even considering a move. She's threatening to throw me out. I mean I need to see the place. It's just awful that she's like this. It's a place that sounds good on paper but i would have to see to be sure. It's like my family wants me to be independent job wise but not house wise.
I know if i didn't live with her she would never expect me to but because i have been its become a expectation. I get i have been back and forth, but its a big change. She tells me my brother is thinking of moving changing jobs after telling mom to sell her house and move closer to him. She needs to think about what she really wants to do. I'm supposed to stagnate my life because she fears being alone?

Avisa, I was once in a situation identical to yours. You need to move on with your life because there will come a day when she is no longer and your ship may have sailed so to speak. Please get your apartment because it will be that much harder on you when she passes to have to get used to life on your own and the grief over losing her at the same time. If she wants the best for you, it would behoove her to not put you through two huge life changes at once.

I think there's nothing wrong with moving out. Reassure your mum you'll be around to visit often and she can phone you for catch ups. Strange situation that a mum won't cut the umbilical cord.

Parents can't hang on to their children forever.. I hope she'll understand this, one day.

Maybe working towards your own independence will make her proud of you and less likely to cling to you?
