Ok so i have a bunch of funky symptoms but the worst one..the one i cant explain is the constant need to pee. I went to the doctor, no sign of a UTI. So...what now? Is there anything i can do to sort of relieve this for a little bit? She said it was probably stress, since its finals and all...but ive never encountered this before...ugh!

Have you been drinking more coffee then usual to keep awake? Even though the test for UTI came up negative it couldn't hurt to get a nice big jug of cranberry juice. Cranberry juice always cures what ails me in that area. I have had frequent urination and went to the doctor too soon. I tested negative for UTI so I didn't drink my cranberry juice. Several days later I had the worst one I have ever had. I absolutely swear by cranberry juice. I usually finish a 32 oz bottle and a couple of hours. Of course I love the stuff so it is easy. Some people can't stand it.

I have to vouch for the cranberry juice. Whenever I feel something coming on I start drinking it for a couple days and it goes away. They have pills you can take now if you don't like the taste. Check a healthfood store.
I found Ocean Spray cranberry here in Norway last week. My husband thought I was insane, I was so excited. They dont always carry stuff and it may just go away but for a little while I can have some. It's a bit expensive but worth it!! Heidu __________________ There is a time in life when you stop existing and start living. There is a time in life when you are given a new chance and new dreams. Before my urologist ruled out my condition I had similar to yours a few years ago they did several tests, a cystoscope (ouch), then something other in the hospital where I had to drink a load of water(and "hold" it), then they injected a radioisotope (dye) in my arm and did some type of x-rays of some sort, plus they did tissue samples and urine samples to rule out cancer (was upsetting when they lost the samples and I had to do them over and wait all over again for results).
After all this stuff was negative they tried meds. to help but I did not like the side effects and in time the nervous or irratable bladder calmed down. They feel it all was triggered from the original UTI I had but was entirely gone but left my bladder inflamed cause I was always having blood cells in my urine (non visible), there had been times when it was so visible it looked as if someone poored blood in the toilet Thank God that is all in my past. Be sure you see an urologist besides your general practioner, a GP is okay but you should see an urologist. "darkeyes" __________________ |

I had miserable UTI's a number of years ago - awful, I have never been in such pain in my life. The tests would often come out negative because of how much water I guess I was drinking. I was told by two different people (a friend of mine who was a nurse and one other person) to cut down on my sugar and that might help. After months and months of UTI's, cutting down on sugar ended them and I've not had any more. If I ever feel just a little like it might be happening again, I cut down again even further and drink some water. It seemed weird that no doctor told me that, but that really did it for me.

That sounds weird, I don't use sugar and hardly eat things with sugar (too weight consciencious) most UTI's are caused from improper wiping or intercourse, feel embarressed to give you more "details". Even if you do not completley empty your bladder or hold it for too long can trigger problems. If you are diabetic (using pill form med or insulin injections) you can be more prone to these problems. I do not want to sound like a "know it all" but after having all these problems and painful tests, and still get occasional bouts of UTI's I made it my duty to educate myself the best I can about this problem, with the aid of doctor's info and reading. Also premenopausal symptoms include various bladder problems due to decline in estrogen, I do not know your age but it is another factor, thyroid dysfunction is also another. Yes, cranberry capsules are terrific, I take 1000 mgs a day, I get them at GNC.

There are a lot of reasons for UTI's, but in my case, I'd gone to two different specialists (twice having the painful procedure where they look inside the bladder) and went through many, many rounds of antibiotics - which in a number of cases, stopped working while I was using them. That was 4 or 5 years ago now, but I did go through many months of nearly continuous UTI's until those two friends (again, one a nurse) said that sugar might be the problem. Of course it isn't in many cases, but they both said that bacteria can feed on the sugar. It bothers me that it isn't something mentioned as possible, because I could have saved myself months of pain. And I lost weight too, so that was even a bigger bonus. If I feel that a UTI could be in the offing now, I drink tons of water and slow down on sugar. I have not had a recurrence.

I've been through the same thing if you read my previous post about that "damn" cystoscope. And oh yes the antibiotic "trip", one after the other then they were not working, that got really scarey Then the thought and brief scare of bladder cancer, that is enough to make anyone pee!!
Oops, sorry did not mean to get offensive Yeah, there are a million reasons for bladder infections, some of the common ones I don't "buy" cause I am scrupulous in every way!! Oh well ladies let's face it male anatomy has it over us when it comes to the frequency of UTI's, ha!ha! I wish you all lots of luck with this annoying matter. "darkeyes" __________________ |
