My husband started saying he hears the neighbors talking about him EVERYTIME he goes outside about 8 months ago. We stay with his 96 year old grandmother 3 days a week, she is now in the last stages of alhzeimers. He hears people talking about him there as well as anywhere else he goes except maybe parking lots before going into a store. To me the fact that everyone, everywhere is talking about him and it happens at home 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should be enough to make him say hey something is wrong. But he doesn't see it. I need help understanding and help knowing what to say to him about getting help. If I tell him I need help dealing with it , would that help??

it seems that he might be experiencing an early stage of a psychosis.
I strongly suggest that he visits a therapist ASAP. Its way easier to stop this now before it develops into something way more serious and hypothetically permanently damages his brain. |

Your husband may just be undergoing paranoia if theres been any times of stress or traumatic experiences(including a run in with someone who took place during a traumatic experience) could have your husband in a prolonged state of depression. With depression comes paranoia in some cases. Psychosis is when hes become out of touch with reality so if he begans to act disfunctional and behaving innapporpiately or weird at random times where hes in a state of confusion about rather people are real or life is real then those are early stages of pshycosis. I suggest taking him to therapy not like marriage counseling just regular CBT counseling. If you have suspiciouns of him haveng Alzheimer's i suggest going to the doctor for testing.

If he is experiencing delusions related to psychosis he will not see it as a problem and he needs to see a doctor.

It is necessary to convince husband of the opposite. Does he have some kind of phobias or psychological disorders?
