A lot of my anxiety and depression is socially related. I have a few close friends, never had any kind of romantic relationship and my social skills suck. The past few years I've wanted to branch out but not sure where to start. Has anyone used the app meetup? Would you recommend it for someone like me?

I have not personally, but I know folks who have and I have not heard negative things about their experiences so far. Check your location, too, because there may be alternatives to Meetup in your area that could be worth looking into as well.

I use meetup. Very successfully. In fact I’ve met three of my close friends on meetup. Meetup group since then got closed. But we remained friends. We even go on annual vacations together. Two of us now belong to a new group we just joined. So yes. Give it a try

Ok so I installed the app. I started going through it and not really sure where to start. I’m going to google it cause I’m sure I can find some pointers but anyone have any tips on how to get started?

Just find activities you would be interested in and join those groups. I like Meetup for the most part. A few years ago they got political so I pulled back at that time but it seems like they’ve balanced out a bit since then. Also, guys I don’t know occasionally message me through Meetup but I ignore them. Other people say they get messages from the same guys. It’s weird. Other than that it’s a good way to get out and start new hobbies and meet new people.
