Hello everyone! Thank you in advance to everyone who takes the time to read through and respond! I appreciate it.

I recently bumped into someone that I used to know and they asked me out on a date. Two days ago, we were texting and they told me that they write anime pornography for a living (they hire an artist to do the drawings for them). For some reason... this really turns me off. The idea of being with someone who devotes forty hours per week to this just doesn't sit too well with me.

What do you guys think? Would you find this unattractive as well? Is this a big deal or is it nothing?
Thanks for this!

It's nothing. If she was a pornstar it could upset you.

Well we can’t tell you what’s unattractive for you. It’s strictly individual and subjective. We can’t tell you who you should be dating. I personally wouldn’t want my partner to be a porn-writer but then I’ve never met or dated one. Is this a temporary side gig or they intend to do it for a long time career?

If this makes you feel uncomfortable then that's what's important. Drawings depicting different ways humans engage in sex go way back through the centuries.

i think it depends on each person's sensibility but i suppose that it is not illegal at least. Perhaps this is something worth discussing with him! Give it a thought. Sending many Safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @plynstrom266, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!
Hugs from:

If it feels like a deal breaker for you, so be it.

It’s how you feel that’s important. Does it bother you enough to be a deal breaker on its own, or do you want to find more reasons (not) to keep seeing him, because you want more solid confirmation that he’s (not) right for you? Listen to your gut on this one.
Thanks for this!

Came across this video talk about narcissists and porn. Thought about your thread and your questioning what a potential boyfriend does where his work/career is in porn.

Thanks for this!

What matters here is that it doesn't sit well with you and is a turn off.

It's always best to follow one's gut instincts, rather than force yourself to change (why should you?) or compromise your values.
