I had briefly moved back to my parents in which my sister used to live nextdoor. She, at the time, was working so she'd leave her daughter alone for about two hours before she got home. She also had a cousin, my mother's nephew, living with her. One day, I was in my parent's garage and I heard footsteps running up the front steps. Since nobody was up there, the steps I heard ran back down and whoever it was began banging the garage door.

When I opened it, my nieces, my sister's and my brother's daughters, came tumbling inside. I looked at them and was about to ask if they were okay, they began to laugh and thanked me for opening the door. I didn't think anything of it. They went upstairs.

The next day, my sister had came home early and went went to talk to my mom. I wasn't listening until I heard her say something about my nieces telling her that my cousin had tried to grab them. I looked up from whatever I was doing and asked her, "What did you say?" She said, "He was probably drunk or something."

Now to be honest, had I not heard them frantically run up and down those stairs, and remembering the way they tumbled in when I opened the door, I probably would not have said anything. And it kind of makes me feel bad for that split moment that I didn't think anything of it.

However, I am glad I did and that I was there when I heard my sister talking to my mother. After my sister tried to make excuses for my cousin, I got up and asked her, "Where is he now?" She replied, "He's there. He just got home from work." I said, "Oh, good, then he's probably not drunk." I walked right up to my sister's face and said, "This is your daughter."

I walked right into my sister's house where I saw my cousin standing in her living room. He looked happy to see me, but before he could give me a hug I said,

At the time that happened, my nieces were going through that awkward stage of transforming. Their bodies were beginning to grow, and take shape. Both of them are now grown women and we'll developed I might add. It so happened that my cousin's daughter is their same age. That was around 2002-03.

In 2013, when I went to visit family in Mexico, which is where my cousin moved back to, I had asked about him, and he avoided me like the plague

I’m so sorry that had happened. I don’t blame you. Someone needed to stand up for the victim.
