I'm turning 30 this year and I just moved out on my own in January, and I still have sleepovers with my parents. I get lonely and homesick really easily and my parents live close by. I have an unusual relationship with my parents, very complicated and I've been dying to get out on my own but I end up sleeping over about twice a month.
Is it weird to be almost 30 and still sleeping over at my parents? |

Hi @LiteraryLark - I hear you saying that you enjoy visits to your parents and the comfort of staying at their house. It is easier if they live further away then I can say it is a lot to drive both ways in a day.
I guess if you are happy visiting with them and they do not see it as an imposition, then why not. There are some people in their 30's still living at home. It is not easy now with rising rents and housing costs to live independently. Kudos to you for having your own place. Relationships with parents are very complex in my opinion. It was very difficult to give up some of the goals of getting parental acceptance, especially when parents wanted it all their way. But there comes a time in life when those things have faded in importance. To me what is important is to start building an identity of my own, finding purpose and meaning in my life. To me this is a life-long task, so I am glad I started working on that early in life. Accepting ourselves for who we are to me seems to be the first step. Giving up changing their mind. It seems to be already made up. That is progress just to get that far. @CANDC __________________ Super Moderator Community Support Team "Things Take Time" |

Nothing wrong with it at all. A colleague and a friend of mine eats dinner with her parents several nights a week. Either in their house or hers or going out. She is in her 40s, well adjusted professional homeowner. She is single and hates eating dinner alone. I see no issues with it.

I'd say whatever helps get you through.
I'm glad that you have a healthy relationship with your parents, too. It's to be celebrated. __________________ If you're going through hell, keep going... |

Are you married? I ask because you might want to ask your partner if it is weird for them. __________________ I Love You |

Why would it be? You do you and if people have a problem with that then it is just that i.e. *their* problem and their judgmental attitude.
