So, there is a guy who I think likes/liked me who invited me to something a few months ago. I've never actually met this person, but they know who I am and I know who they are. I didn't go to this event.
Anyways, it wasn't a direct invitation or anything. It was basically asked by that person through another person. This person never tried to reach out and contact me personally.
Anyways, months later I still feel a bit offended by this experience. This person just kind of upsets me whenever I think of him. If I hear anything about him, it kind of makes me cringe. I should feel relief and be able to forget about it easily, because I think I deserve better than that, but the weak effort just offends me. Maybe this person decided they didn't like me and that's totally fine. How do I forget about this??

Weak effort ? Maybe he just couldn't get up enough guts to ask you himself . What's wrong with communicating through a third party if your shy or afraid of outright rejection. It's sorta like a blind date. Ideally you should somehow meet this guy face to face over coffee. After you meet him you'll probably go either way , with him or away from him. This way I believe it'll be easier to forget him. I think subconsciously you wanted to go to this event and you regret not going. Anyhow , good luck in the future......

You both showed no effort. He asked someone to ask you. You’ve never met. You chose to not go. Sounds like neither of you were that interested.

If you are interested, make the effort to meet and talk. Otherwise, seems like it was just not meant to be on either end.

If you never met, it’s way to premature to even consider who likes who. Meet and get to know each other first.

One way is to be aware of where your thoughts are going. As soon as you catch yourself thinking about what happened, contemplating ideas about it - stop and let it go by consciously shifting your focus onto something else and telling yourself that nothing except I'll-feeling will be gained by dwelling on it. It's basically hurting oneself and a waste of time, EglantineRose.🙏
