Since the beginning of the divorce, and it does not seem to be final anytime soon... Actually, no, I'm not telling the truth. I had no life because I was stuck in an unhappy marriage.

I stay at home and monitor this website and other apps. I stay home and watch TV. I don't have friends nearby.

I anticipate a move in the short term for maybe a new job.

Any ideas as to how to do something with my life? I go to work, work out, and stay home, for the most part. Do the needed shopping (food, necessities).

Help... please. Or wait and be patient?

Last weekend I went to a botanical garden and spent half the day there, just walking around, looking at the scenery, and did not look at my cell phone at all. It was not even intentional, but I realized once I got in the car to drive back home.

I've been looking at HGTV-type stuff, and thought... gee!! Had I been in a healthy relationship I would have done so much more to the house I live in. But my STX wouldn't have helped and yet complained. What a waste!

Open to ideas... folks... what worked for you?

I took a look at the movies that are playing, and nothing caught my eye.

Looking at safe things to do by myself. I have two days to go with no plans (weekend), then most likely a slow teleworking Monday.

I can only sleep so much... and it's spring.

Enough ranting... Your thoughts!

The botanical garden sounds lovely!

What do you enjoy doing? What are your hobbies? (Even ones you used to have but don’t do much anymore). What do you want to do?

Do you want more friends nearby?

You mentioned your house, is that something you enjoyed doing up or would enjoy that?

I enjoy walking my dog so I often take him for hikes or trails or woodland walks.

I also enjoy yoga and sports so I’m planning on joining a sports club and a yoga class.

I also attend talks and groups from Eventbrite. Do you have that? You can join online talks and learn things from others. For example, there’s this beginners gardening workshop in my local city that teaches you how to grow your own herbs and vegetables, I’m hoping to do that!

And who knows, maybe I’ll make some friends or meet some interesting people along the way!

Sorry I just realised I asked so many questions. Don’t feel you have to answer any or all. I just thought it would help to have a think!

I enjoy spending quality time with good friends. I like cooking classes but they are booked months out (I checked) and I may be in a different location by then. I like crafts, which won't get me out of the house!

I would love to have more friends nearby. I wouldn't want a fixer-upper but I would like to keep up with trends, nice putting wallpaper in the powder room or doing small home-improvement projects that I can do myself - not have to hire contractors. I don't have a dog and honestly, I am not interested in getting one.

I'll have to check Evenbrite. Am not familiar with it. Thank you!

No probs

It’s an app I’ve been using recently. There are local things in person but also online events too.

Oh cooking classes sound fun! That’s a shame they’re so booked up.

I’ve just moved so I’m in the process of finding ways to meet people and get out more too.

I hope you find what you’re looking for

I currently live alone. This weekend, on Friday night I am attending a Cinco de Mayo concert, then tomorrow I start with a weekly session at StretchLab and then will go to the immersive Sistine Chapel exhibit in San Jose, then will meet a former report, now friend, for coffee locally. Then on Sunday I will to to San Jose symphony and do something for exercise, biking or swimming or walking. I will also grocery shopping and cooking for the week ahead on the weekend. Then on Sunday I will have my weekly Skype call with my former teacher, now a close friend who lives overseas. If I am lucky, I will fit in some creative writing this weekend and then the weekend will be over. It is a packed weekend and I do not always stuff so many events into a weekend, but recently it has been one event or another. I either get emails from venues I visited before or I get ads for local events on Facebook: that is how I learned about the Sistine Chapel immersive. In the past I also went to Eventbrite events as @Pinny said, and I will receive email notifications about more such events, but I do not have time to go to them. If you sign up to various email updates, it is very easy to fill your schedule. There are also MeetUp, wilderness hikes if you like them, events on Facebook connected to your friends and groups, and I am sure many other outlets I am not familiar with.

You just start exploring, start going, and then you will find yourself inundated with invites to do more things similar to the ones you have already done. It will all happen in a short time. Enjoy!

If I can’t sleep tonight, I’ll be up to watch the coronation of King Charles. That should make me sleep during the day 😜

I left a bad marriage 16 years ago after being in it 33 years. Moved 2100 miles away & bought a small 10 acre farm. It keeps me busy along with I am actively involved in my church. Haven't done the volunteer work I love for 5 years as I was caring for my sick animals the last 4 years & I was/am sick this year. I used to be more involved in town activities when I first moved here but that kept me so busy my fatm suffered from lack of my maintenance. I love puttering around my farm & hiking in my woods. Haven't done the horse riding for awhile & miss it but it is hard after losing my horse to illness. Have been so busy I haven't even done the painting & artwork I enjoy doing for a few years now either. Trying to organize inside my house too, so life just keeps me busy. I socialize with a few friends in quiet settings. Funny cause in this small town I know many & network them together when the need arrises....nevet thought I would be in a place to do that when I moved here....but it all keeps life busy & I love living rural after spending 54 years in Los Angeles....this peaceful feeling is priceless

I have to report that I do not feel as lonely as I thought I would be. I actually enjoy coming home and doing what I feel like. Also, going out on a whim. Have not made too many friends; I don't want to invite people to my sanctuary (my house). I surprised myself.

Been meaning to provide an update to this post. It can, indeed, get better to anyone out there reading it.

I also eat what I want to and feel much better. I am grateful for having everything I need.
