I'm in New England. That's U.S. eastern time. I thought MSF was out of New England.

My BIL has been more friendly today. The sister I decided not to visit just phoned and wished me a safe trip home. She sounded friendly. So I'll leave tomorrow, feeling much better than I did. Then I need to avoid over-thinking everything. Trying to rest a bit now. It's 12:10 pm.

It is, but how does MSF know where you are?

I had no idea MSF is out of New England. But are you in New England now? Didn’t you travel? I am in Midwest and my time always shows accurately Eastern time. When I post from UK my time still shows up as US Eastern time. Interesting that yours shows differently.

IP address maybe? Good question. Mine posts US eastern time no matter where I am posting from. So everyone posts are eastern time then? Why is rose’s time different? Weird

Actually rose your posts have correct time stamp on them. When you said “it’s 6 am now”, your post was stamped 6:00. And so on. Whatever you say your time is, that’s what your post stamp says. I am confused what you referring to about two hours difference

Now it is 2:14 a.m. I'll see how this gets stamped by MSF.

Hey, that may be possible. I'll check, though not sure what I'm checking for.

Do me a favor, someone. Type the time you are posting in a post. Then I'll see how the stamp compares.

Anyway . . . it's 3:51 a.m. now. I'm riding to the airport.

Your settings set up what time zone you are in when you use MSF at home. If you don't change that setting when you travel MSF still thinks you are in that time zone wherever you are using your account on it. It isn't like cell phones that sense your position & automatically correct for it

It shows mountain time for you then. Don’t you live in mountain time zone?

Go to your profile (access the part of it from private messages), scroll on the bottom where it says edit options. See what time it’s set up to. Either keep it always the same or change every time you travel.

for those with time difference confusion. in your profiles you set what your local time zone is.

then when you set your time zone that makes it so that everything on the site is time stamped in ..........your own ......time zone stamping that you have set.

for example my time zone is marked for eastern US. so now all the time stamps both what I post and what I see on others post is in my own time zone reference point. eastern USA.

if I set my profile time zone differently I will see all the time stamps differently than my own time zone reference point

to set your time zone go to your "Edit Options" scroll down to date and time options. set your time zone. scroll down, click on save changes.

the fastest way I find my edit options is by going to the top of the forum page and clicking on the "profile" tab, in the bar, then on the left side of the page that comes up I click on edit options.

After you set your "time zone" everything is translated into your ...own... time zone time stamping that you have chosen in your profile, regardless of what the posters time zone is.

everyone will see different time stamps because not everyone is located in the same time zone

example not everyone on the whole site lives in the eastern USA. some people who live in California or the UK. their time zone stamps that they see will be in pacific time zone and other stamping,

I see time stamps in eastern (NY) USA time stamping. thats three hours difference between california and NY.

so when my own time stamping for a post may say 7am. someone in California who has their time stamping set at pacific time will see the same identical post time stamped as 4am.

just set your time zones and everything on the site is automatically converted to your own time zone reference point that you have chosen in your profile. everyone will see different time stamps because they live in different places around the world in different time zones.
Thanks for this!

Yes Now I understand. While I was visiting my sister, I was in a different time zone. MSF was stamping the time of where I live. Mystery solved. Thanks for helping me figure it out.

For a week after flying home I did pretty good. But this afternoon I fell into the trough of despondency.

It's 10:20 p.m. I feel sleepy. I'll see how long before I awaken. Asleep I get some relief from depression.

For a week after getting home from my trip, I felt pretty good. Now, for the past few days, I've gotten very sad about how it was such an unhappy experience. I'm truly depressed now.

I tell myself that this feeling won't last . . . it will blow over. I've been like this before. Eventually, it blows over. I did really depend on my sisters for emotional support. Not that I would ever bother them much. I don't. I'm devastated at the coldness I felt while visiting. I'm very alone in the world, since my boyfriend died. It's getting me all upset just to even type these sentences.

My trash barrels have been on the curb since Tues evening. I've been unable to make myself leave the house even just to bring them in. I think it's partly social phobia. I'm afraid of even meeting a neighbor. Now I am crying and feeling distraught.

I'll put on some clothes and get the barrels.

I got the barrels in from the curb. It was getting embarrassing leaving them out there. So that's my main responsibility discharged. I drank some wine. I took an extra 50 mg of amitriptyline. Now I'll go back to bed.

Before my trip, I had been going to an Al-Anon meeting that met on Friday evenings. I thought about going to that earlier, but I chickened out.

It's a small group with a core of members that attend regularly. I figured that woulI d be a good group where I'ld get to know the others and they would get to know me.

I got discouraged because I failed to make any connection with anyone there. When the meeting ends, we stand and say a prayer. Then some members chat with other members. I stand there momentarily. Then I feel awkward with no one to talk to. So I walk out the door, through the club lobby and across the parking lot to my car. It feels very lonely.

So I decided not to go to that meeting this evening. I feel rejected going to meetings where no one talks to me. I'm very depressed now, feeling like I got rejected by family members during my visit. I don't want to go to a gathering where I'm going to feel like an outcast.

I know that this "outcast feeling" is something I do to myself. Nobody at the Al-Anon meetings has intended to be rejecting of me. At the start of the meeting, they read this thing about how they "love" any new person who attends the meeting. I guess I just don't feel it.

I'll try to go next Friday. Walking into gatherings of people causes me intense social anxiety. All my life I've had that problem. All my life I've forced myself to not let my anxiety stop me from exploring things. Eventually I'll force myself to go to a meeting again.

Back in 2020, after my boyfriend died, I ended up getting admitted to a psych facility twice. While there, I did force myself to be friendly toward other patients, my peers. That helped me a lot because I managed to find others to talk to.

I'm spending too much time alone. By that I mean I'm constantly alone. I went to a community center about a week ago, which caused me bad anxiety. I will force myself to attend some activity at the community center next week. I was too depressed today. If I stay alone in my apartment all day, day after day, I'll eventually want to die. I have felt that way in the past, but I always managed to overcome that despair. So I guess I'll figure it out again.

Now I have to eat something and take another one of my amitriptyline pills.
