No one is going to give them English test. You should be able to drive and pass background check. That’s it. I am sure he spoke enough to tell them he wants to be Uber driver. These aren’t professional drivers. If you want professional service, hire taxi from reputable taxi cab companies like the ones drive from airports.

The only logical thing I can think of is that he lied to get back at me for telling him that I was going to report him for unsafe driving. He dripped me off on the shoulder of an exit. What do you think? |

I don’t know if you could request English proficient driver. Also who is going to determine level of proficiency? What sounds like a terrible English to you might sound just fine to me. This is a country of immigrants. |

Have you figured out how or why he started going in the wrong direction to begin with? That info might be in their emails to you.
If you can figure that out, and take responsibility and apologize to the company and the driver for anything you might have done or gotten wrong, that might help you get reinstated on the app. But it would first take figuring out what went wrong. I use Lyft once a month or more, often for a round trip, which is tricky to request. I have an address called Home to help me enter it simply. This could be your first step on the righteous road. |

He barely understood me & all he could say mostly was the app, the app & get out. I can’t stop too. Ugh! He lied because he didn’t want to get into any trouble for unsafe driving. What kind of idiot drops some one on the shoulder? Ugh! |

There are uber youtube videos which show just how quickly these rides can go south, pardon the expression. i use them to educate myself on how to behave on a ride. Some things you wouldnt even think are bad.

I just found the info how to change the address while on the Uber trip. I assume Lyft is the same.
Go on the app, find your ride in progress, add new address or change the address. Driver will automatically see it. Telling a driver to enter a new address while driving or telling him to stop or exit on the highway is not a proper course of action. When you were panicking and getting flustered it jeopardized safety of his driving. He had to pull out and let you out. He was telling you to change the address in the app, but you kept panicking so he didn’t feel it was safe to continue driving. Plus you were going to report him, not sure for what, so perhaps he figured it was safer to let you out as he was possibly about to be accused of something. Story about weapon threat does not make sense and that part I have no explanation for. I’ve no idea why he or Lyft mentioned weapons. The rest makes sense of what happened. I agree with una about you tube videos. There are some good ones out there |

I don't believe that you did anything wrong. You did what seemed right, and I think many people would have responded similarly.
What bothers me is your husband's reaction. Telling you that you shouldn't go out, that you lack communication skills and that you make a bad situation worse? Your husband is completely demeaning you, belittling you, and is trying to scare you into isolation from the world! I've taken a look at your past threads. Your husband is abusive! Do you see and recognize that he is abusive to you? If not, please look up on Google "emotional and verbal abuse tactics" or "emotional, psychological and verbal abuse tactics" and see if his behaviors match what you read. I read your recent thread/post about men being unemotional, lacking empathy, and cold, ie, meaning your husband is this way. I think you should reevaluate your marriage and consider leaving him. Abuse never gets any better, abusers do not change or improve with therapy (very rarely, if ever), and it's all a huge waste of your time and energy to try to improve someone's behavior who is abusive. I would leave your dirtbag of a husband and use Uber from now on. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |

They should at least hear me out & not automatically take his side. Ridiculous! And NO police were involved btw which is extremely odd for an assault case! Obviously he’s a liar! I did call two different citites & no charges were filed anywhere that day. Weird! He would’ve possibly been arrested for a misdemeanor & gone to jail for 6 months for making a false statement. He obviously lied to protect himself from me complaining about him dropping me into off unsafely on the shoulder instead of off the exit like a normal person would. I never told him to stop there, lol 😆 I told him to drop me off past the exit as it wasn’t safe for me to get out there. What a jerk! He didn’t even have the decency to drip me off in a safe spot! It’s not my fault he’s stupid, lol 😆 |

I asked him to pull over at the nearest exit. I did not ask him to stop on the freeway. I did not expect him to enter the address on his phone. I did it for him when he gave it to me. I didn’t think that was a safety hazard. HE gave HIS phone to ME. So that was HIS fault too & mine I guess. I wasn’t thinking. He definitely was wrong to drop me off on the shoulder instead of off the exit safely. What a weirdi! I’m sure that he knew he’d get in trouble for that so he lied. I should’ve took a video & pics & called Lyft immediately. If anything like that happens again, I’ll do that. I don’t understand why they didn’t even bother to listen to my side of the story, weird! |

Well if they did not email you a receipt, then there is nothing to check.

I felt terrified! He was weird as hell! I think he faked not knowing English as he seemed to speak OK English at first. He had water & a phone charger in the car & was listening to an alternative band in English when he first picked me up. Weird!!!! |

Anyways, an insightful friend today told me that Lyft doesn’t want to deal with any liability issues. I don’t get why they couldn’t just fire the unsafe driver. They don’t want to be sued by either side she said. Interesting. Any thoughts on that?
Also, why wasn’t I asked about MY side of the story? Moral of the story, companies can afford to loose a few customers. Keep complaints anonymous if necessary but always have proof & do it immediately before a vindictive prick does it first, lol 😆 Never tell them you’ll report them. Consumers aren’t protected valued anymore. We’re just a bunch of entitled ‘Karens’ now, lol 😆 |
