Internet person you met online is much more descriptive and accurate.

He’s not an acquitance. He or she or they could be anyone. You need to call it how it is. You talk to strangers online. That’s about it. Not someone you’ve met etc

If you think what you are doing is appropriate, does your husband know?
That’s possible. The stories & the tone were to consistent to be multiple people. Something tells me it was a lonely guy & that’s it. This perdon was serious about giving out advice, so I doubt that I was being made fun of. He was a pushy lonely guy probably with a fake g.f probably, ugh.

If the tone was consistent, there is some likelihood that it was someone (a man, a woman, a group of people entertaining themselves at your expense) using ChatGPT. The users prompted ChatGPT with a persona (say, that of a lonely guy), and then they fed what your wrote to ChatGPT and it generated consistent responses staying within the prescribed persona.

Scammers often work in groups and they have to coordinate to keep stories consistent. And they eventually will ask for money or want to steal identity or other nasty reasons.

Or they use AI as previous poster suggested

But let’s say it’s a man. No decent man would be randomly searching for married women to interact online unless he’s a scammer or a troll

It’s possible, but I have a strong feeling it really was just a lonely guy. A group of stupid teenagers or some joker wouldn’t go put of their way to give me serious advice.

I understand that. He didn’t ask me for any money. He was just super pushy with asking for pics. I doubt that I was being targeted for laughs as this person did try to give me serious advice.

He also wanted to help me find a job too.

No joker would do that. They gave me very specific advice about lawyers for example. I doubt that a troll would waste to much time trying to give out advice.

They could easily be just trying to see how long you would carry on, not realizing that you were talking with AI. And then, they weren't that stupid: they had you going, right? They could easily be just testing the capabilities of AI. ChatGPT is hugely popular and has taken the world by storm since the launch in November of last year. And generating advice is ChatGPT's specialty.

I think you are projecting your own state on whatever/whoever that was. You are lonely and you are projecting it, attributing loneliness to the entity that you interacted with.

Is there a way to tell if you’re talking to A.I? I don’t know much about that apparently.

I do not think you would be able to tell. You just need to realize that it is a possibility and try to avoid talking to strangers whose identity is not known to you. After all, it is a complete waste of your time.

As Tart said it could be AI or could be a person. It is not even important. Bottom line is you don’t know who this person or people are. No he wasn’t going to find you a job or be your friend. And no you know nothing about this person or people.

OK, never again. I didn’t know that A.I is that convincing until now. Scary!

I think someone already mentioned on here that there’s a possibility this person might’ve wanted to use your pictures for fake profiles etc, there’s no telling what they might’ve been up to.

There’s nothing wrong imo with having online friends, I’ve got a few people I talk to on here who I’ll likely never meet. But it’s a good idea never to give out personal or identifiable information unless you’re sure someone is who they say they are.

I remember that. Why not just ‘friend’ someone who posts a lot of selfies on Insta or FB & steal their pics instead? It’d be less work for them, lol 😆

Probably because reverse image search on Google would discover those pictures whereas if you steal privately sent pictures, those will be unique and not discocersble elsewhere.

Stealing is not easier than getting something willingly given to them. Scammers are smart like that

An individual could still do a reverse image search too.

I could still do a reverse image search easily.

TinEye Reverse Image Search

This is the search engine. It’s super easy to use. How can I protect myself against identity fraud if I share pics online?

Anyone can steal pics if it’s not watermarked. Aside from not sending pics, what are my options?
