Renate Nyborg who is a former CEO of Tinder https://www.linkedin.com/in/renatenyborg/ has cofounded Amorai whose thesis is:

Amorai is a health and wellbeing company that harnesses AI to enhance real-world relationships. Amorai’s mission is to help one billion people master the skill of human connection. Its first product is an AI relationship coaching app for young adults.

Amorai - AI FUND

To me, it is profoundly sad to be told (at this this is what is being suggested) that a billion people would not master the skill of human connection without assistance. But maybe this is true? What do you all think? Will this take off?

Machines are more efficient, but it sounds ironic being taught the skill of human connection by AI. Maybe humanity is getting ill and there's no other way around. I read some news from Japan dealing on how old Japanese citizens try to interact with robots to cope with loneliness and still feel useful. I just don't feel comfortable with AI (never even used Chat GTP), but who knows, maybe I'll change my view.

I have read terrible reports on loneliness among Japanese old people.

Lol....no amount of AI could ever help my ex- husband or could have helped my dad.

Personally I prefer learning with real people.

AI is programmed BY HUMANS so the foundational program is no better than the people who program it. AI was a new field in Comp Sci when I got my degree in the 70's. I stayed away from AI but it was introduced to all of us

But current AI is trained on billions of training datapoints and ir probabilistic. It delivers different results to the same inputs for this reason. I would not say that it is programmed by humans the way deterministic programs are. It might be different now than what you were introduced to in the 70s; deep learning and stuff. is fairly recent, less than 20 years old.

But the training data, I mean supervised learning and not just learning patterns from all the books out there or all of Wikipedia, yes, training data basically transmits what real people who supply the supervised training materials believe and in that sense it is never smarter than those real people. I just wanted to mention that they do not program the AI the way deterministic programs are programmed.

They didn't program it like deterministic programming back then. Programmed learning capabilities were programmed into it.

Ah, OK. I do not know the history going so far back. Thank you for educating me.

Lol....I am one of those computer dinasours. I got my degree before PC's even existed & back when the university had their huge computer in huge room in the Comp Sci building. They did have networking to labs in other buildings around campus. Our programming wasn't 1's & 0's any more but my career was programming hardware so we used machine language vs a high level languages & burned the code onto the chips installed into the computer to run the computer hardware. Lol....computer dark ages
