Do you have no idea that a lot of people on the internet use fake profile pictures?

It could (and often is) someone else’s picture. Scammers are known to appropriate pictures of various usually trustworthy looking random people of the social media and then use them to lure and prey on vulnerable people

I have to add that he might be also in prison. They have some internet access. That would explain not talking about himself or being clueless about some stuff.

But you don’t know IF the person is a scammer. You do realize that this forum is no different from any other website, right?

Might?? I get that prisons do have internet access, but the freedom to actually go online and make accounts without having the police to watch them constantly? I doubt that.

If it’s not maximum security prison they are allowed lots of various things including getting online college degrees. But maybe he’s or she’s not in prison. You don’t know who this person is. They have no interest in what you are saying and they aren’t talking about themselves.

I am not demonizing text-to-text conversations, but in comparison to face-to-face conversations, yes, they are below because you do not get the tone of voice, the body language, other non-verbal signals and the like. Alluding to the fact that text-to-text is below face-to-face does not equate to demonizing text-to-text. If I say that a child has narrower vocabulary than an adult, I am not demonizing the child. And I was not even comparing to face-to-face. I was comparing to TALKING (you said you were TALKING) which can be done over the phone in an old-fashioned manner or via WhatsApp, Skype, Messenger, and any other of many messaging applications that allow voice only conversations. You would have learned much more about that person had you been able to talk to them and hear their voice. Also, in text-to-text, there is more time for the conversation partner to ponder what they state. In voice conversations which do not have to be face-to-face, the reactions are by necessity immediate. It is harder to lie and fake when you do not have time to think about what to say. So, again, you would have learned more about that person had you talked to them for real, not necessarily face-to-face. __________________ Bipolar I w/psychotic features Last inpatient stay in 2018 Geodon 40 mg Seroquel 75 mg Lybalvi 5 mg as a PRN Gabapentin 1200 mg, Vitamin B-complex (against extrapyramidal side effects) Long term side effects from medications some of them discontinued: - hypothyroidism - obesity Suspected narcolepsy Treated with Ritalin 5mg |

Of course. It’s just easier to figure things out in person. Generally speaking when I meet a person I can see if the person is 13 or 55 or if they look like their picture etc etc etc When you are texting random person, you just know nothing about them

You said you were talking to a man and wanted to know why he shows no interest in you or sharing about his life or anything about himself. The answer is because you don’t know who he is whatsoever. Yea of course maybe he’s not s scammer and he just isn’t interested in you or sharing or learning about you. That’s just a random person on anonymous forum . |
